If we had a dollar for every time someone asked, “Why does ShoeHeals give away new shoes?” we wouldn't need to ask for donations! Too often, people assume that those in need should settle for whatever they’re given. But at ShoeHeals, we believe everyone deserves dignity, grace, and the chance to feel valued—regardless of their circumstances. New shoes aren’t just necessities; they’re transformative. Like Cinderella’s glass slipper, they can change lives—boosting confidence, self-worth, and a sense of purpose. They serve as tools for mobility, self-expression, and making strong first impressions, whether in job interviews, community interactions, or everyday life. The ShoeHeals Shoe Mobile will allow us to do just that: continue bringing quality, comfortable, stylish, life-changing new pairs of shoes to those in need. Perhaps the most innovative service the mobile will provide is the opportunity for those in need to see a podiatrist for various foot ailments, gait issues, and toenail trimming, all of which are barriers to properly fitting shoes.
With the Shoe Mobile, ShoeHeals will continue to fulfill our mission and bring supportive resources to those in need in an efficient, streamlined manner, allowing us to triple the number of clients we serve and the new shoes we provide. The mobile will also ride around with supportive resources relevant to the clients we serve. For example, identification sign-up services, Medicaid and EBT sign-up will be available for the homeless and low-income populations we serve.
The mobile will rotate to different locations weekly and as requested by partnering organizations, and follow other organizations with mobile services.
ShoeHeals receives more than 30 requests monthly from organizations asking for shoes. The mobile will help us meet the needs of our clients where they are with the efficiency they deserve. We'll be able to:
- Triple the clients we serve annually by bringing a larger selection of shoes in various sizes.
- Bring foot healthcare to the underserved by providing access to a podiatrist who will assist with foot ailments, gait issues, toenail trimming, and dispense free footcare health information.
- Give clients a voice in their footwear selections, allowing them to choose the shoes that best fit their needs while increasing their sense of dignity and dispelling the notion that they can only have what they're given.
The Shoe Mobile is more than a means to distribute new shoes to those in need...it is about preventative healthcare, restoring dignity and confidence, and meeting more clients where they are with the resources they need putting them on a path to stability and well-being.
